What is the aim of the grant? 

The objective of the programme COOCK+ is to valorise (basic) research results by accelerating the introduction of technology and/or knowledge to a broad group of companies. 

COOCK+ projects are always composed of two independently (possibly) subsidised parts which are interrelated: 

• Part A is aimed at application-oriented knowledge creation, translation research and knowledge dissemination activities in function of the widest possible transfer of the research results to companies. Only this part is eligible for support within the COOCK+ programme (via a result commitment). 
• Part B is a bundle of all company-specific projects aimed at the evaluation and application by companies of the technology and/or knowledge transferred in Part A, whereby at least the usability and economic feasibility in a company-specific context are evaluated. are evaluated.  

Who is eligible to apply? 

A COOCK+ project is requested by one or more Flemish ‘organisations for research and knowledge dissemination’. 

• A cooperation agreement shall be drawn up between the members of the applicant consortium to regulate practical cooperation. 

• The applicant(s) may use subcontractors to bring specific expertise and competence to the project.  
• Where this contributes to the efficiency and speed of the project, a non-Flemish research organisation can participate as a subcontractor (for a maximum of that meets the EU definition of a research organisation may participate as a subcontractor (for up to 20% of the eligible project costs). 

How much funding is there? 

The basic grant rate for Part A of a COOCK+ project is 50%.

Via a result commitment, the aid percentage for part A can increase to 100%, i.e., depending on the KPIs achieved and the budgetary efforts of all company-specific projects, an aid bonus of 50% can be acquired on top of the basic subsidy percentage can be acquired. 

Which projects are eligible?  

The following project activities are foreseen within part A of COOCK+: 

1. Collective research and development: translation research and possibly additional knowledge building and/or generic cases/demonstrators; 
2. Activities in the context of the general broad dissemination and transfer of knowledge (seminars, publications, workshops, lectures, website, etc.); 
3. Collective activities aimed at initiating company-specific projects; 

The following company-specific projects are eligible within part B of COOCK+: 

1. The project is carried out by a Flemish branch of the company (including the outsourcing of study assignments); 
2. A causal link with the COOCK+ project can be demonstrated; 
3. They are started within two years after the end of part A of the COOCK+ project; 
4. There is a report on the technological and economic feasibility in the company;  
5. The project is ‘unique’, i.e. linked to the COOCK+ project. 

What costs are eligible?  

With regard to the result commitment, only those projects are taken into account that are started in the period between the start of the project and up to and including two years after the end of Part A of the COOCK+ project and whereby the deployability and economic feasibility were evaluated in a company-specific context.  

During the COOCK+ project, i.e. between the start of the COOCK+ project and up to and including two years after the end of Part A, Part B includes a sufficient number of company-specific projects started (the feasibility study of which was reported during this period) so that, as a whole, they represent at least as much (planned) budgetary effort as Part A of the COOCK+ project.
